A new band playing old-style NYHC featuring Pete Koller, Craig Ahead (SOIA), Rich McGloughlin, Sean O-Brien (KILLING TIME) and Jimmy Williams (MAXIMUM PENALTY) sounds to good to be true…

‘With a brick’ is a trip down memory lane to times when bands like ‘Breakdown’, ‘Killing time’, ‘Maximum penalty’, ‘Cro-mags’ and ‘Outburst’ were undefeated kings in hardcore land. Singer Thomaso got all of these ‘youngsters’ in the studio and tried to capture the spirit of the late 80’s hardcore matinees. Raw, raw and raw, this is ‘hardcore’ with a capital H. I’m glad there’s still bands honouring this sound.

 

Like all ‘kick-ass’ bands from way back,  Ironbound nyc opens up with a killer ‘intro’…I suddenly got the urge to scream ‘bust it’ godammit! Awesome tracks like ‘Dismay’, ‘With a brick’ (fuck yeah!) and ‘Lost’ are way too cool. Sometimes Ironbound nyc reminds me of Belgium’s own Justice.

 

It’s all raw, not the best cd I’ve ever heard, but it’s cool. It’s so cool. There’s nothing more I can say about it…awesome initiative!
