New York Dolls - One day it will please us to remember even this
Let’s go back to school kids! Question one: What is the common factor between Guns ‘n roses, Mötley crüe, Backyard babies, The Smiths and a million other bands out there?
Question two: Who or what person(s) are responsible for men dying their hair and dressing like a woman in rock ‘n roll? Question three: Do you really think Rise against or Rancid started punkrock?
Think again… New York fuckin’ Dolls are back…the legends of legends are back! Ok, Johnny Thunders is gone, Jerry Nolan died and recently Arthur ‘Killer’ Kane passed away (leukaemia). Damn! That leaves David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain as the only two original members.
‘One day it will please us to remember even this’ (what a title!) is the proof that glam is back! The godfathers are here and ya better get ‘dolled’ up and get the mascara out of the closet.
This is rock ‘n roll darlings and it sounds great! Roadrunner records of all record labels is responsible for releasing this comeback album and they will sell plenty of ‘m, oh yes they will!
NY Dolls are still masters in writing funny, feel good rock ‘n roll songs like ‘We’re all in love’, ‘Plenty of music’, ‘Gotta get away from Tommy’ and the anthem ‘Fishnets and cigarettes’.
David looks like my grandmother and that’s just awesome! The ‘younger’ dudes are giving the Dolls the extra energy this band needs.
What an album and what a legend! This is punkrock boys and girls!
Score: 90/100
