Roger Miret & The Disasters - My riot!
This is definitely the best Disasters record to date. I wasn’t really looking forward to review this one, since I’m not a big fan of Roger Miret trying to sing…he just can’t.
And while Agnostic Front is throwing away any ounce of respect they built with their last record, Roger wanted to keep his punk roots for the disasters. I have respect for the man and he’s a fuckin’ legend, but I’ve heard these lyrics one too many times…goddamn man, how many riots can a man get into?
But…the songs are good! The production is great, the backings and melodies are top notch!!
But the lyrics have to get better!! The ode to Ramones in ‘Ramones’ is freakin’ hilarious…I felt ashamed in their place.
If you liked the previous records, by god do yourself a favour and buy ‘my riot’ but it’s the same story with the ‘Time again’ record…originality 0%…
I’ve always wanted Roger to go back to the ‘United blood’- ‘Victim in pain’ days and making ultra fast old-school…guess it won’t happen and I’ll have to keep that memory.
If you’re looking for original punkrock…go check out the new ‘Dead to me’ record. Beats this one on any day of the week!!
Score: 68/100
