Juliette and the licks - Four to the floor
Juliette Lewis has always been my favo actress ever... I mean, wearing misfits shirts in your movie and having 'Cape fear', 'Natural born killers' and 'What's eating gilbert grape?' on your carreer list leave no room for imagination. This is one hell of a chick!
Since a couple of years miss Lewis has her own band called 'Juliette and the licks'. First ep 'like a bold of lightening' hit me like a ton of bricks. Heavy garage rock with lot's of punkrock influences bombarded the band to one of the most happening 'new' rock bands. First full 'You're speaking my language' gave the band international credit and lot's of chances to play festivals all over the world. That album had a slower vibe to it and it looked as if the cat had lost it's claws.
Aight, 2006, The licks are back with 'four to the floor'. I expected more radio friendly rock in the vein of the last record, but boy was I wrong!!! Juliette spins and growls and moans the whole albums as if she's the female reincarnation of Iggy Pop. Damn! This should've been the first full-length!
'Smash and grab' has to be one of my favourite opening tracks ever! Aggression! 'Hot kiss', 'Sticky honey' and 'Death of a whore' even have a glam thing going on. Oh forgot to tell ya, did you know 'Todd morse' of H2O fame is one of the guitar players? Oh well, that's old news right.
10 songs, no fillers! Get this!!!
Score: 88/100
