Deadline - Take a good look
Here they are again, one of the few 'newer' punkbands that is keeping Britain's streetpunk flag waving high. 'Take a good look' is the perfect follow-up to 'getting serious'. The melodic parts are more melodic than ever and the heavier parts are there to keep the 'old-school fans' happy. It all works out great and you know what? Liz just keeps on singing better and better! Brought up on fellow bands like 'Argy Bargy', 'Cock sparrer' etc...the band now flirts with 'Blondie' influences (pick up their version of Blondie's 'Hanging on the telephone' on their previous ep) and it suits them better. There's still the link to their native country and that's just great. Deadline has a solid fanbase, punks, skins, streetpunks and rock 'n rollers, everybody seems to like the band and it's well deserved!
Songs like 'Picture perfect smiles', 'sick and tired' and the rock 'n rollish 'thief' are awesome!! The last song 'What's waiting ahead?' is an accoustic pop lullaby that really points out where Deadline scores it's highest points: Liz.
The band's about to bring down walls between different scenes and that's just great. Great job! once again!
Score: 83/100
