To the Russian punkrockers
In the last few days, we received disturbing news about our shows in Moscow and St. Petersburg. It turned out that our show in Moscow got the wrong publicity, which resulted in the show being too dangerous for us and our audience. The show got canceled. In Saint-Petersburg police officers directly called to the club owners and said that they did not need such show, and that they “got a phone order from Moscow”. Out of three shows we had booked, only one was left: Petrozavodsk. We now faced the following dilemma: should we take the risk, fly to Moscow, travel to Petrozavodsk and play the show, or should we cancel altogether. After a lot of e-mailing and phone calls with the Russian promoters, we decided not to go on with it and pull back.
Antidote has never been, and never will be a band that cancels a show
for no reason. The situation we faced was simply too unpredictable, and
possibly too dangerous for us and our fans to go on with it. We are all
very, very sorry that it came to this point, we were really looking
forward to come back to Russia after the great time we had in September-October
2005. We will try everything we can to come back to Russia, without all
the trouble we experienced now. We hope that Russian punk fans
understand our decision, and that we will see all of you next time.
