This Is A Standoff -- A name almost as long as the distance that seperates these four guys. With Steve Rawles in Calgary, Graham Churchill and Shawn Kilgrain in South Edmonton, and John Meloche in Ottawa; It can be difficult to get together and write music.
After the demise of one of Canada's hardest working punk bands, Belvedere, Steve and Graham were determined to play in a band together and still do a fair amount of touring. They enlisted the help of John from Forty Cent Fix, all the way from our nation's capital. This past summer, Steve and John spent over a month in Calgary working construction, watching Sopranos, celebrating 30th birthdays and oh yeah... writing tunes. The final piece of the puzzle was to add Shawn on bass, from Edmonton's Drive by Punch .
As it stands right now, This Is a Standoff has just finished recording a demo and has written the better part of a full length album. In the months ahead, they're looking to secure a label for their debut release and get back out on the road... where they belong. |
