Spinach brings you powerfull melodic punkrock since 1995. With the origonal line-up Spinach played several shows throughout Holland with bands like Human Alert, Pridewowl, Yawp!, Breznev, Crivits. They released 2 demo tapes: "Punkrocker", in 1997 and "Until the heart stops, the mind bleeds" in 1999. They also released a full length CD "Wasted by Tsjernobyl" in 1998.
Musicly Spinach is influenced by bands like Good Riddance, Rancid and Pennywise. If you would combine the crazy bass lines of Rancid with the melody of Pennywise and add the hardcore feel of Good Riddance, big chance the outcome would be close to what Spinach plays.
Spinach’s lyrics are mostly inspired by social issues such as poverty, unequality, opression, racism, power, warfare, religion, freedom, choices, individuality, independence and finding your own way in society. Throughout the existance of Spinach the music evolved constantly, at a certain point the music had evolved so far that the members decided to change the name of the band, a year later the band quit. In 2003 two of the origional members of Spinach decided to take a go at it again together with new guitar player Lennart. The result of this "reunion" was so much fun that they decided to take things further as a band again. Spinach is back, with more punkrock, more melody, more agression and more energy! |
