Hayseed Dixie is an American band formed in October 2000 that was originally described as "A Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC", recording cover versions of hard rock songs in their own distinctive cross of bluegrass and rock which some have termed "rockgrass". The band's sense of humor is evident in their name, a play on "AC/DC". The band has since gone on to record many of their own original songs, most of which display their trademark irreverent spirit, as well as re-interpretations of other well-known rock songs, all in their own inimitable style.

Claiming to hail from the fictional Deer Lick Holler, Appalachia, the band have been on tour since 2001.

'Kerosene Brothers' is the bands alter-ego project, with the album Choose Your Own Title

In 2005 they played at Glastonbury and the Cambridge Folk Festival. In September 2005 they held their own festival Loopallu in Ullapool, Scotland, which has become an annual event. In June 2007 they are listed as appearing on the opening day of the Download Festival[1].

Unlike many other bands, Hayseed Dixie actively encourages public recording of their live shows. They even go so far as to provide instructions on their web page for achieving the best quality recording.

BBC Radio Two's Jeremy Vine is a fan of their work and infrequently plays a tune by the band. The group recorded the "When you wanna hear great music..." jingle for his show.
